This study aimed to improve the certified registered nurse anesthetist preceptor’s comfort, confidence, satisfaction, and knowledge while precepting the student registered nurse anesthetist in the clinical setting. The project was adapted from a previous pilot study by Butler et al., 2022. The online education module was modified and deployed to 33 certified registered nurse anesthetists at Kaiser Permanente Panorama City Medical Center. Pre- and post-module data were collected before and after completion of the online education. The data showed no significant changes in the preceptor’s comfort, confidence, satisfaction, and knowledge. A Spearman rank order correlative test revealed a negative correlation between the number of years of experience as a certified registered nurse anesthetist and their level of confidence with precepting a student registered nurse anesthetist from a differing ethnic background, which implicates the need for additional cultural and ethnic training. Future recommendations include the addition of audio narration to the educational module, exploring a hybrid model of preceptor education, and deploying the educational module to other facilities where certified registered nurse anesthetists precept student registered nurse anesthetists. Given the limited existing research on preceptor education, exploring strategies to enhance and support the role of certified registered nurse anesthetist preceptors in the clinical setting is vital.
